What is this weed and how to get rid of it

Acquired a new home and the front lawn is needs some TLC. It looks like I got couch grass and there are heaps of weeds on it. I'm not sure what they are but have posted pics. Do you know what the weed is and what's the best method to get rid of it. Do I just need to mow regularly and do the old fashioned pull the weeds out individually or is there a product on the shelf that will assist me with this?
