my toymaking continued

lundi 18 janvier 2016

my posts have been a bit haphazard, starting in the middle and never reaching the start but in my odyssey of toymaking i got to november last, less than a year of toymaking and needed to make some toys for xmas (including for a charity xmas tree) ..

i broke off the project i was working on at the time (a fuel tanker, photos for another post) and i chose to make from a relatively simple plan a model t coupe ... chunky, not very refined and largely screwed together, but very good for playing with

i made half a dozen as there is as much work to setup for one as six and i really enjoyed these although they are not testing ...

it took me a couple of hours to cut all the pieces out and as much again for wheels, about two days to hand sand them all to 400grit, a few hours to assemble and about 5 days to paint them all

the first was going to the daughter of a friend so when i asked her "what colour would lucy like?" ... the answer was "purple" (red was an acceptable alternative fortunately) ... i have subsequently bought a can of purple paint and plan to make something else for her early this year

regards david
