My uncle visited recently and gave me this hand plane that belonged to his father. I remember as a kid playing with all these old tools in my nonno's shed and the thing that sticks in my mind was that he used to oil everything. The blade is stamped Ahren's Goodline Germany which does not show up on any searches, but what I would like to know is if the plane itself would be a home made job or a mass produced commercial version. There are no markings on the timber. Would it be sacrilege to restore it or should I leave it as is ???
