Hi all ,
I have a double garage area which is 6800mm wide x 6100mm long & it has a truss gable roof above it ( RLW approx 4m - I think). The opening is 4800mm wide for the door , And I was jus trying to double check the correct LVL size to support it.
Using the DesignIT software , it says 360 x 45 hySpan is minimum standard (Rigidity ratio 1.0). I am not a mimimum standards type of owner builder. I was thinking more along the lines of 2/360x45 or 2/400x45. With a 400mm LVL I still have 2090mm clearance to drive in the garage.
What would you normally use for a garage door header if frame is 90x45mm. I have heard of guys using 360 x 90 I-joists aswell???
Just trying to et my frames done ready for the roof trusses in a few weeks.
