Casuarina glauca, Casuarina torulosa, Hapullia pendula wanted - small quantities

dimanche 28 septembre 2014

I am looking for small quantities of dry turning blanks about 50mm square and 150mm or so long to have furniture knobs made for antiques restoration projects.

Casuarina glauca, a dark red coloured she-oak, and the one of the earliest timbers used for furniture in Australia - grows around Sydney and Central Coast from memory.

Casuarina torulosa, Rose Sheoak, grows on the north coast of NSW (often used for shingles in the Coffs harbour area).

Harpullia pendula, Australian Tulipwood, looking for samples showing its distinctive contrasting yellow-white sapwood and dark brown heartwood (both borer resistant). The boards of this without the contrasting colours are not of interest.

I could also be interested in wider boards of these species with the characteristics mentioned if anyone has them for sale.

Please let me know what you are offering and how much you want for it.

Regards

David
