record bullnose plane 077 depth adjustier screw has side to side play any fixes?

My record bullnose plane 077 has a coarsely threaded depth adjusting screw that has a lot of side to side movement.

Should it be welded or brazed?

A finer thread & deeper threaded hole in the plane body would have been better.
