Hello, I was given a piece of a timber slab to try out by one of the farmers up Tully way. He said it was a from a large fig tree and it was grown locally on the river bank.
I am unable to find out anything about fig tree timber. Searches of this Forum and on Google were unsuccessful - there is no mention of any uses of fig tree timber. It even fails to rate a mention on the venerable DAFF site on Qld timbers
Has anyone ever come across this timber before? Is it useful for anything? Have attached some pics showing the coarse end grain. Also pics showing the colour once it is wet
