Two old crocks and the Sydney Wood Show

jeudi 21 mai 2015

You may have heard that Mal (Boutique Timbers), had a tough year last year with bowel cancer and chemo.
That was last year.

This year in recovery mode, he found a (very) cheap tour to Vietnam and Cambodia. 3 weeks, all inclusive and he was loving it, beer at 50 cents, food included......
But on the penultimate day, at some temple or other, he had a minor fall, but with bones weak from chemo...... there went the hip.
They could do nothing in Cambodia, so he was air-medivac'd to Bangkok where he was given a replacement hip.
2 weeks later Australia Post sent him home business class with crutches (We highly can recommend their insurance, they were absolutely wonderful)
He thinks it was a great deal, he was fully insured with Australia Post, got to spent 2 weeks all expenses paid in Bangkok and figured he needed a new hip anyway, so saved $40K...
That's your old crock No. 1

Yours truly attempting to lift a 450x450x1metre block of blackbutt into the ute, managed to tear 90% of the tendon from his upper arm muscle from the ulnar bone in his lower arm. Doctors thought this was great, they'd never seen a tear there in 30 years, normally the muscle is pulled off the shoulder, and took photos before (and I guess after the tear was repaired.... I was sleeping) for the medical equivalent of facebook.....
6 weeks in a sling and then physio.
That's your old crock No. 2

But that won't stop us old crocks from exhibiting at the Sydney wood show.

Mal is already driving and back on the back of the truck (stupid), but at least has hired a local to assist in preparation.

His limp, once knee related now has a new twist, but he still has 2 arms........and I still have one.

So we look forward to seeing you all there in June. Like the new Coles and Woolies checkout section..... there may be a little more self service needed this year, but we will have some glorious timber and I actually look forward to not being able to handle those damn large slabs.

Greg
