Edge strips on end grain

Hi, I am building a console table with a Silky Oak top, 1300 X 300 X 25 mm. It consists of 3 boards & I have tapered/feathered the ends to 18 mm. I am unhappy with the look end grain & would like to glue a 12 mm wide strip of Jarrah to the ends of the table. Have any members had positive results with this approach? Peter
