I've been working on a lot of blueprints lately.
Mostly of J.A.P Engines getting to know their layout before taking on the 2/3 scale model of the Brough Superior.
By chance Joel aka shedbound had happened across some blueprints for a model of the Golden Hind.
He posted them on the forum and they got my attention very quick smart.
They where printed by a Gentleman none as Captain James, he had a hobby and model shop in Melbourne for many years starting in 1932.
His store went by the name of The Model Dockyard it was first located in Flinders Street, then moved to 169 Elizabeth Street around 1934.
Then it finally shifted to 216-218 Swanston Street were it was until the late 70's I believe.
The plans of the Golden Hind look to be very old probably from around the late 30's to early 40's.
I mentioned to Joel that I'd love to have a go at redrawing the blueprints at some point, and he was nice enough to post them to me.
To say their in a poor state would be an understatement, but there's enough clarity left for me to redo them.
There's three sheets of plans each one just smaller than A2.

I couldn't wait to get started so after scanning them I isolated a section for the third sheet and got to work on it.
I'm pretty happy with the way things are looking.
Although I've made it a little harder on myself by deciding to redraw them as close to original as I can.
If it was a blueprint of an engine I could flip parts left and right as a draw them.
It makes things very easy, but the Golden Hind drawings were very much done by hand.
So each part will need to be done pixel by pixel.

As you can see things like the windows weren't drawn one to the other.
This one section took around 20 hours to do, so it may take some time to get it all done!.
But the plans are Beautiful and I'm really looking forward to seeing them more the way they where.
It will be great to get back to working on things like the Harley and Brough.
But with everything packed up waiting to move the Blueprints make an easier option at the moment.
If anyone has any information about Captain James and The Model Dockyard I'd love to hear it.
Hopefully when the Blueprints for the boat are done someone may like to have a go at building it.
I'd like to but knowing me it would end up a little to large for the mantelpiece in my new house!. :U
Cheers
