I'm a hobby welder. Most of my welding (>85%) is RHS, angle and flat in the range of 1.6mm to 3.0mm.
What I have now is a Cigweld Transmig 180se and a Ozito Arc 140 (amps).
I rarely use the mig, just to frustrating! I'm sure it is the operator and not the equipment. I weld almost everything with the little Ozito buzz box, much more user friendly (to me) than the mig.
Since I favour stick over mig, I want to get an inverter stick. I'm thinking about the Token Tool ARC 162 OR the Token Tool Miniarc 205. Both have a five year warranty and I've read the Token Tool customer service is very good.
I like the portability of the ARC 162 and since it doesn't have some of the features of the Miniarc 205, maybe it is more reliable. I don't foresee TIG in my future.
What I don't like about the ARC 162 is the low top end, 125A and the 1.5 meter leads. The Miniarc 205 has a 200A top end and comes with 3.0 meter leads.
What I don't like about the Miniarc 205 is that it has features I don't need. I see this as a 'negative' in reliability (more things to go wrong.
So considering the above, what would be your thoughts?? Would the ARC 162 be adequate or go with Miiarc 205?? I appreciate any and all replies.
