Small shelf from reclaimed Jarrah

Made from Jarrah paneling that was originally used in the Wool Sheds at Port Adelaide that was reclaimed in the 80s. It was part of a large lot that was recovered during our house renovations. I plan on using a lot of it for furniture around the house. There is quite a long and interesting history to this house but that will be for another time :U.

I took one of the panels, cut it in half then joined and glued it to make one large panel. I then cut it in two, one piece for the top and then a narrower piece for the back (hidden in this picture). I then shaped the edges and recess using a roundover on the router table. After sanding I glued the top and back and added a couple of pocket screws for good measure. I finished with an oil varnish mix then finally added a coat of wax. I am rather pleased with the naturalistic look on it.
