I finally got sick of trying to work on a coupe of Triton benches a mate lent me some time ago, so bit the bullet and off to the big green shed to score some structural radiata pine. I hate radiata, but to use anything else is cost prohibitive, at least in the ACT.
So the plan is to build a bench 1500 long, 630 wide and 970 high. The legs will be 90x45 laminated as a square post, with stretchers top and bottom to form two units that will fit into a rebate on the aprons, with wedges to stop racking. The top will be 12 70x45 laminated on edge, with aprons made from 3 laminated 90x45, which will be glued to either side of the bench.
Sketchup to follow, but first was getting the pine

And then cutting it down to lengths I can stash in the garage

and if the weather gods smile on me tomorrow I will square up the rounded edges and start laminating.
