Important Wood panel spacing

mardi 7 juillet 2015

I am in the final stage of panelling a home library.

I have put a box beam ceiling in, longwise in the room their is a central beam and 2 wall beams, dividing the room into 2 distinct ceiling panels.

The main window in the room is off centre by 50mm.

I am struggling with how to position the wall paneling. The Room width is 5m, window is 3m and is 1m from the floor.

With the window not technically in the true centre, (50mm offset to the left) should I centre the wall panels around the centre of the window or do I position panels to be centre of the room.

I have placed a mock panel
On the wall and the box beam centre panel dominates your field of view and I am thinking I should centre the panel so as to line up with centre of the room and hence the the box beam, but this really hi lights that the window is not in the true centre of the room.

Any thoughts ?

I have some photos, but not sure how to post?
