Just needing some advise regarding some suitable branch timber to be used for a ladder. A little background; I've made a few before, not you're usual a
ladders as there anything but utilitarian as they're bent and twisted, more so the better. I've made them from Coastal Tea- Tree which is very suitable and has the added bonus of being quite elastic which is benificial when fitting the rungs in.
What I'm after now is a Eucalypt of some kind for something different. I know it may not be as elastic as the Tea-Tree but I'm getting better with fitting the rungs and I don't need the sympathy of elasticity when lining up the rung holes so much. I recall what I think was a Sydney Blue Gum that was dropped next door to where I used to live in Balnarring having very sound branches, in fact, after been dryed for a while even 25mm branches hardly cracked and were dense enough that when hit together they sounded a sharp "ting"
Anyway, suggestions would be appreciated. I'm after something about twelve foot long tapering from say 80mm to 20mm as bent and twisted as possible. Here's a couple in progress, still in Tea-Tree x two kinds to get an idea:
