My latest box project. It measures 310mm long, 175 wide 1nd 175 high. The box was made as a commission for a friend who collects watches. It started out as a simple box for eight watches but developed into a project that included a draw. The box is made from some dry poplar, a very stable but plain timber, and veneered with black walnut veneer. The lid features a walnut burl veneer, with black veneer cross banding. I used a simple stringing of yellow walnut to separate the different veneers, instead of the usual banding. Sealed with sanding sealer and given four sprayed coats of laquer, then buffed.
