I thought I might try my hand at some router based inlay so I wandered off to Carbatec and bought a kit that consisted of a 1/8 downcut router bit and a template guide. And then my problems began.
1. The base plate of the Makita does not take the template guide and so I had to get a clear base to screw on that does. Fair enough except that only two holes, out of many align. I can drill extra holes if I must but...
2. The template must align perfectly with the centre of the collet on the router. So just putting the new base on will not work. To assist in this the kit comes with a little rod. One end goes into the hole in the template guide. The second presumably goes into the router. However the rod has a diameter of 5.93 mm and this is to small to go into the 1/4 inch collet on my router.
Before I waste anymore time, what do I do?
