Replacing non-standard size fascia

mercredi 30 décembre 2015

Hi all,

Hopefully someone will be able to offer a noob some advice.

I am about to replace some rotted fascia board on the gable end of the house. It is a Colourbond corrugated roof and there are cement sheet soffits. Unfortunately it is a weird profile (250mm x 30mm). I have asked several places if they can make it up and so far all have said no.

I was wondering, on account of there being 90 degree metal cap overlapping the top (see pic), could I use the readily available 230mm and align it at the bottom with the cement sheets. There would obviously be a 20mm gap at the top between the colourbond roof and the fascia, but this will be behind the capping and can be filled with a strip of pine if necessary.

Is there a problem with this plan? I don't have the tools or skill to be rippin' and routin' 5m lengths of timber, and I can't afford the quotes to get a pro. Oh, and I want to get it done before the existing one falls on someone's head!

Thanks in advance for any advice.
