Hi folks,
Looking for something to contrast with some huon pine for a turning project. Would ideally like to match the hardness reasonably so I can sand without giving myself a ridge between hard and soft timbers - or at least not have a mix of the huon at 'approximately the same hardness as cheddar cheese' and an aussie hardwood at 'may as well be a rock'...
Any pointers? Best option I can think of in my timber collection at this point is blackwood, which while not like an old jarrah fence post, still isn't exactly soft. I have a cookie jar made out of those two in progress at the moment, will see how it goes!
Regards,
Danny
