Hi All,
Have already started a thread under heating/cooling but thought I'd pop a few lines in here as well. I found this forum whilst internet searching one of many questions for my current reno in progress. Heaps of info here, and lots of reading. I've been lurking for a bit and thought it was time to join.
I'm undertaking my biggest reno to date on our current home, our third house. Done plenty of painting and minor works over the years having had a great mentor (my old man), plenty of tools and reluctance to spend on labour what I can do myself - saves more money for toys.
Our new home, since May, had 3 bedrooms upstairs and a fourth downstairs. Upstairs is effectively built within the roof space. Bed 2&3 had two large walk in robes adjacent and some spare roof void that we figured would suit conversion to an extra bedroom and keep all the family sleeping on the one level. Two nights after moving in I knocked out the wall between the WIRs to make a short term bedroom, old Bed 4 is now a play/media/guest room. One thing led to another and I've now finally started in earnest with the works. Knocked out some gyprock, installed some new stud walls. Next step is to knock out the load bearing wall between old Bed 2&3 to make a corridor to new Bed4. Will get some Velux windows installed for light/ventilation to new Bed4 late Sept. Hopefully by then I'll have made some good progress.
It's hard fitting in build time when you work full time and you've got kids sleeping amongst the worksite and need to have lights out at a reasonable time. Prior to this project I've been a bit of a midnight handyman, wait for the kids to go to bed the pick up the tools.
Cheers
Spottiswoode.
