Occasionally you come across some clever engineering, even in handtools.
Recently I purchased a pair of choppers made by Spear and Jackson. I'm sure once they were made in England, but I bet, not today, anyway, what got me in was the gearing used to gain some mechanical advantage.
I could be wrong about the gearing having an advantage effect, I can't get my head around it.
In any case, they work remarkably well with minimum effort to slice through a one inch dia limb.
