BS blade cock up

mercredi 6 mai 2015

The blades I'm referring to are for a Band Saw Mill but the source of them is a well known east coast supplier that has a reputation on these forums for first class service and supply all manner of blades.

I discussed our requirements over two phone calls (very helpful and pleasant) and then ordered (on behalf of the boss) by phone , two, 5325 mm long, x 2" wide x 1.3 IPT (yes I do mean IPT) bimetallic blades i.e. VERY EXXY.
What was sent was 5535 mm long x 1 TPI blades.
We needed them in a hurry so we used express air post for which we paid an arm and a leg.
The smaller TPI we could live with but the length is impossible to accommodate on the BSM.

To confirm my order in writing I wanted to send the company an email but they don't do email, only fax, which I don't have.
So nothing is in writing and the Boss is away and will be wondering why I haven't milled anything when he gets back.

I will call them tomorrow and see what they say and report back if this is going to be a better news story or . . . . . .

The one small mercy is that as they are too long so at the very worst I could get the blade shortened locally, probably for less than the cost of freight in both directions - not that we should be paying for this anyway.
