I bought these three blanks a while back and had them sent up from Tassie. My plan was to turn them into large candle holders. The kind where you have a pedestal made of wood with a glass cylinder on the top and a large candle burning on the inside of that.
Best laid plans... It has been months and they are still sitting. Given that I've focused my efforts on other forms of woodworking and I'm not doing as much faceplate turning, I've decided to sell them. My asking price of $145 for the lot is what I paid for it. I am willing to sell them individually for $50 each.
Size is ~240mm x 240mm x 100mm . Pretty big for BHS.
See the photos. These blanks appear to have been cut close to the heart (as tends to happen with Blackheart Sass...), and possibly dried a bit quickly. There is a bit of a hump in the top of two of them, and there is some radial cracking. I'm pretty sure that most of it doesn't go all the way through, nonetheless this may end up being a gap filling job, so that should be considered when purchasing. Luckily a black epoxy would look great with the black heart. I kind of like the appearance of cracks so I was going to leave it.
There's also a small knot hole in the top of one which will turn out pretty quickly.
Happy to ship at buyer's expense. PM me and I can weigh them and get a quote.
Cheers,
Luke
