I use oxy/lpg infrequently, maybe half an hour every month or two. I take care of my hoses, I usually disconnect them between uses, coil them loosely and lay them flat, indoors out of the sun. My current set (Weldsmart) is maybe 3 years old and has cracks every 4 or 5mm along the length of both hoses, they are not leaking (yet) but I don't want to use them again.
Why is this? I have el cheapo garden hose that has lived in the Queensland sun for years without springing a leak or cracking.
What is the best strategy here? Buy the cheapest you can and replace them every 2 years? How can I be sure that if I pay more for a 'brand' hose that it isn't a tarted up version of the cheap hose. Any recommendations?
