Hi all,
hate to make my first post a request for help, but unsure what else to do. I recently purchased a 336d lathe and despite my best efforts to be careful, I managed to run the carriage out of travel towards the headstock(was using power feed). The compound was wound right back thus no tool or toolpost contact with the chuck was made. It took a fair bit of effort to wind the carriage back and is now hard to manually move backwards/forwards. The power feed seems unaffected though it does seem to hesitate in a couple spots. Alarmingly I also found a piece of gear tooth in the chip tray. I contacted the supplier who basically told me fix it myself as It would cost too much for them to come out and fix it. I have been unable to contact anyone else who can assist me. I am very new to machining and am not confident(unsure) how to disassemble the carriage to find what parts need replacement. I live in the country several hours south of Perth so the supplier is not keen to travel out to assist. I,m wondering if anyone else has come across this before and can offer any advice.
Thanks clint.
