A work in progress

I started making a stand and rest for a grinder today. The grinder I'm using I bought from a swap meet a while back for $12 but haven't used as yet. Rather than have 2 or 3 adjustments for the table I welded the table at a pre-set angle and the table tilt is adjusted by loosening the 12mm bolt, sliding the upright forward and tightening the bolt again. I thought this a better idea than having 2 or 3 adjustments. I still have the other side to do yet as well as a couple of large wing nuts to make for the tilt lock.

I made the frame of 25mm RHS and welded it to the back of the stand with a couple of braces at front for rigidity. When I finish the table for the other side I'll look at scribing marks on the framework so I can get some repeatability on the table angles.

I tried it out this afternoon and all worked well for grinding drills and tool bits only the vibration from the grinder got annoying. In retrospect I think I should have made the frame from duragal RHS for rust prevention.
