spindle oil - suggestions ranging from ISO 22 to ISO 100

Hi All,

For the Spindle Oil, the suggestion ranges from

ISO 22 - Mobile Velocite 10 - Renovating a 9" South Bend manual page 65.
to
ISO 100 - Bearing and Circulating Oil - Hercus Oil

Does the oil selection for the Spindle depend on the condition of the bearings, personal preference or availability etc.
