An Addition to a Surface Gauge for Checking Squareness.

vendredi 18 décembre 2015

I have been meaning to make one of these simple fittings for ages but always got by just using a ball bearing of about 5/8" diameter in the front Vee in the base of the surface gauge. That method works quite well but is a bit of mucking around and you have to keep chasing the ball around the surface plate.

I was prompted to spend a few hours making something more user friendly after reading a discussion on PM about a You Tube video by The Tool and Die Guy where he shows his version.

First step was to drill and tap M4 holes in the base.
