As the subject says guys - Would a Die Grinder of been my friend for this little project?
52mm Box Spanner by Jon_Kelly, on Flickr
I quickly turned the OD to be a good fit to the ID of the box spanner, drilled the centre out with a 12.5mm drill and then drilled and tapped 2 x M12 holes. Finally, using a square file, made the 12.5mm DIA hole into a square hole to accept a 1/2" drive torque wrench.
The material is 316 Stainless (because thats all I had available).
The filing of a round hole into a square was hard work... So, would a die grinder have made light work of the filing?
I have never used one and clearly don't own one, but have often wondered what one could be used for. I wonder if this would be it!
I dont believe I could justify a broach.
Thx
J
