Listing is for a little pack of Northern Silky Oak Cardwellia sublimis.
This is a pack of squares, suit legs, joinery, turning blocks, or resaw it to whatever.
Colour is good and grain is as would be expected. Most will show the big medullary ray pattern on two faces and a backsawn oak grain on the other two. They're squares, what can I say. I knocked the dust of one with the thicknesser for y'all.
These pieces of timber are dry and ready to work. We all know that Cardwellia is becoming increasingly scarce, and is getting harder to source in the larger sections like this. It is even harder to find it properly dried. These have been air dried for several years, then kiln finished, then allowed a reconditioning phase. Core MC is at 12.5%, established by crosscutting a test board and measuring with a professional level moisture meter. Gradient is even from core to shell, and a case hardening test was also done and showed no issues. In terms of stability this is about as good as it gets in 100mm thick boards.
Most boards are over length because we measure in 300mm increments. So while boards may be listed as 1.5m long, they are in fact 1.7 etc. There are also probably some shorter lengths in the pack, we dont count them so you dont have to pay for them.
Pack dimension on a skid will be 1.7 long x 0.6 wide x 0.6 high. Weight would be (by volumetric estimate) approximately 150 KG or perhaps slightly more. I'm not calculating freight for all and sundry however will arrange to meet most services out of this region for delivery. I checked with one of my regular transport companies and he advises he can land it at depot in Melbourne for around the $250 mark. Note that would be to Melbourne depot, not to your door. If your closer it'd cost less, further away costs more etc etc. Freight is ex Tully 4854.
We reccomend Followmont in QLD and the NT, and Toll everywhere else but if you want to make alternate arrangements thats fine by me. Have forklift , will load it.
No whining about the freight - its Cardwellia - it only grows north of Townsville.:)
Not something thats available everyday and if you dont believe that trying pricing it with your favored timber agent. Most just say its not available at all anymore in these sizes.
