Does anyone know what species this is? It is used in my ceiling as a cross brace for the rafters and must be 30+ years old - very hard and dense with no evidence of knots - it is not evident in the photos but to the naked eye it has slight reddish tinge to the end grain: 

I'm assuming it is an Australian hardwood of some type?
