Just a query I do bas reliefs with my cnc. I fell over a clock at the local flea market that was made of Boab. I hate seeing those clocks that use a beautiful piece of timber with a cheap Asian movement and plastic numbers stuck on its face.
So for a whole $5 purchase after some intense negotiation I have removed the movement taken of some tar used to hold two pieces together shaved off the lacquer and have two exquisite pieces that will be re-purposed for something other than a clock.
I have tried to locate a re seller of said Boab slices, boards and no luck. Plenty of references for Boab as bush tucker - I don't want to eat it or carve the nuts lol.
As I understand it the tree only grows in the Western Australia Kimberley region I stand to be corrected.
Anyone have any clue as to where one could purchase some of this timber?
Dam it has a lovely grain and colour. I am pretty sure it will carve well.
