I will use this post to share my project with you all,
I have been planning to build a fish tank rack that will hold 3 four foot tanks so I can expand my hobby,
Has anyone had experience building fish tank racks?
I have been slowly working on the design, weight, dimensions, risks, pros and cons of this project
My friend studying Engineering has offered to help with the project now and we are now working on calculating what best material is suited for the design and how to design the supports to hold the weight,
I have been browsing the web for stress ratings of timber, slowly but surely I will find the right info
If you have any tips, please share
**disclaimer**I must stress that I am aware of the total mass of the stand, the risks associated with the DIY project, I live alone and the property is on a full concrete foundation
There is a reason for DIY, I can easily purchase a commercial design or hire a professional to do all the work for me, I'm not interested in the easy way that costs more, I want to learn and do the hard work so I can become knowledgeable for future projects and to help others.
