Went to an auction the other day. Seen an old worn out Mars lathe. I got a couple of other Mars so I thought, yeah, couple of hundred will do. Then I seen the plate hidden down under the wooden lathe bench.
It is nice to find out about a lathes history. This particular Mars went to a Toowoomba school then off to two other owners, then me.
Apparently there were over 400,000 vets eligible for the various schemes (covered all trades and professions) so I imagine there is quiet a bit of old machinery out there with these plates attached...
