I was lucky to find a second-hand bookbinder nipping press which needs some TLC.
I am trying to undo the 1 1/4" bolts holding the bottom platen to the frame holding the big hand screw.
Bought a 1 1/4" socket - 1/2" drive - to unscrew the bolts.....didn't shift a mm, nothing!! I have since squirted some WD40 a few times without much success either!
Any suggestions?
BTW, the press originally comes from Scotland and bears a plaque with the supplier's name "William Collins & Sons Co Stationers Glasgow" and would weigh 40-50kg. Don't know its approximate age but would have thought it to be 100 years old or so.
Thank you for your suggestions
