Blade jamming - what am I doing wrong

dimanche 13 septembre 2015

Newbie needs patience and help please

Finally got my second hand TT Tools bandsaw going (parts seemed hard to get until I got onto Hare & Forbes and Steve there was very helpful).

Primary use will be preliminary rounding of lathe blanks so made a circle cutting jig yesterday. Using both a 1/2" 3 tpi blade and a 1/4" 6 tpi blade (both new) and both speeds on bandsaw as well as varying tensions, the blade kept jamming even when only cutting some 1 1/2" treated pine I had lying around as well as some greenish small (3" high) branches though it ate a straight cut on some 6-7" eucalyptus that had been in the shed for many years . I even cut a small circle in the jig at the point where the blade lined up with my pivot points in case the cut was pushing the blade back and rubbing on the jig. All bearings were appropriately set.

When cutting free hand, cutting went much better though I really like the potential accuracy and safety of the jig vs free hand. All bearings were appropriately set.

Any suggestions that don't involve me buying a new bandsaw would be appreciated

Steve
