Hi Guys,
I'm looking to replace my 4-way with a wedge type QCTP. Ideally I would like to mount it on the existing shaft which unfortunately has quite a wide piece at the bottom (see photo). I have seen a youtube video of a modification made to a QCTP to fit a similar type by boring out the bottom. However the video was to fit a piston type QCTP. Some of the photos I have seen for the base of the AXA style wedge type tool posts look like they have part of the mechanism right at the bottom, so boring out may not be an option. Has anyone here bored out the base of a wedge type QCTP or can say whether this would be possible? The base section of my toolpost shaft is 24.5mm diam and 20mm high, the remainder of the shaft is 15.9mm diam.
I am also after a good source for one of these wedge type AXA clones if anyone feels like recommending one. If anyone has a closeup photo of the bottom of their wedge type post that would be even better.
