Whipper Snippers

lundi 8 décembre 2014

Hey guy's,

I am after some opinions on whipper snippers.

First off I had a John Deere XT105SB, sad that I can remember the model number off by heart, but when you've brought so many parts in the last 12 months it's not that hard to understand. I got about 10ish years out of her, BUT she was a $400 unit 10ish years ago.

I have since upgraded to a 2 arce property so I think a bigger unit would be better. I would like a straight shaft unit, but one that can be seperated, #1 for ease of transport and #2 for the additon of other devices. First off it needs to be a whipper snipper, second a hedger and thirdly a pole saw. I have looked at the Stihl option and it's incredibly expensive, like $700 for the motor unit. The other additions would take the grand total to over $2000 and I can't see the value.

Is there any other options that I can't get a decent machine that will last a good 20 years, because at the moment it's looking more and more like you just by the cheap shyt and when it dies in 4ish years you buy a new one.

I always thought expensive = good. So I brought a Honda push mower, added the 80 or so dollar snorkel kit to make the unit around the $800 mark, at 4ish years the snorkel tubing is shagged, it's stopped more than once and ran like crap due to @@@@ in the air filter, I have had to service it at around $50 a serivce, and that should be done yearly, So to get it down to sub $200 a year I need to run it for atleast 5 to 6 years, and I can guarantee a $250 to $300 briggs and stratton will done 2 years faultlessly, with no return visits for a service etc.

Sorry for the mini rant but I am really after something that I can buy once and use for a very long time other wise I think it'll have to be a ebay unit and just know I'll have to replace it every few years.

Thank heaps, Clay
