Tablesaw movement in motor shaft

vendredi 12 décembre 2014

I have one of the direct drive royobi tablesaws which is getting on in age, I think nearing 5 years old. It's been okay for the rough timber ripping I've needed to do so far, but I've always had to rip stuff slightly oversized and then plane it down when doing finer work as the blade would shimy slighty about .25 of mm when cutting thicker timber enough to annoy you when you want a nice finished edge on something.

So I pulled it all apart today hoping I could correct the problem, but as far as I can tell the actual motor shaft is slightly loose. ie the blades square and parallel but I can physically shift the shaft around a little with my hands. I'm pretty sure the amount of movement is whats causing the shimy when I try to rip anything.

Pretty sure it's stuffed but wondered if anyone had any magic wand solutions or if this is a common known issue with either the ryobi tablesaws or direct drive saws in general?

thanks
