Help - Summerton P No. 8

dimanche 7 décembre 2014

G'day Guys (& gals)

Well I have done it again ... another lathe. It is an oldie and I have no idea where it comes from or who made it. Looking for enlightenment. The only offer my wife gives is 'STOP ... No more lathes!!!'

This is the headstock. I imagine it once may have had three stepped pulley for flat belt drive?

Looking up close it says Summerton. The lathe has spent to my knowledge most if not all of its life in or around Adelaide, South Australia.

It looks to be a double ended headstock that pivots. Definitely needs to have the quill locked when turning between centres otherwise it will wind back very easy.

On the other side of the headstock it has this lettering as seen below. I believe it to be PNo.8 My guess is it may be 'Part No. 8'

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
