NSW Wanted - Stanley No 80 Cabinet Scraper

jeudi 6 août 2015

Hey guys,

Long story short, my Niece has just finished her year 12 woodwork project, and she did some inlay work. During the levelling off process, and to clean glue lines, I introduced her to the card scraper, and although she found it effective, she had issues (thumb strength), trying to hold the scraper (especially when trying to bow the scraper). She is a keen woodworker, with an interest now in inlay, and I would like to keep her using a cabinet scraper, so was looking at alternatives to the card scraper.

Now short story, shorter:U, does anyone have a No 80 cabinet scraper (even a rusty one), needing a new home they look like a spoke shave, but with a wider base and protruding blade.

I've searched on fleebay, but the ones I am finding are in the US, so postage cost is a killer, and obviously I'm at the mercy of the guy packaging it suitably for international travel.

Now, why the background story, well, it's about ergonomics for her too, so I also wanted to know if people think I'm onto the right track thinking the No 80 to solve some of her issues. Lastly, I have had good success getting card scrapers to sharpen for me and add a burr, so don't need advice with that.

Cheers,

Camo
