Box for Daughter

mercredi 26 août 2015

Daughter No3 is getting married next month and asked me to make a box to use at the reception to receive cards. I bought a bit of jarrah with a nice grain pattern at the recent Perth Wood Show and added it to some that I'd been keeping to make the box. The cupid and heart are made from jacaranda using the double inlay technique and set into a piece of raspberry jam (a wattle that smells like raspberry jam when worked). The bow lock is from Jacksons, the lid stay is from Brusso and the hinges from eBay. The insanely figured jarrah used in the plinth was from The Timber Bloke. Finished in shellac and furniture wax.

Note the Smurf hands I managed to give Cupid!
