Yes, it was time to step up and look at restoring that Stanley/Bailey # 4 that was covered with rust after being lugged around for over 40 years while my wood working dreams lay dormant.
What a lot of work sanding that bed down to fresh metal - I know what I'll do, put it on the belt sander and get most of the hard work done that way.
You idiot Bob. now you've got a nice big hollow in the bed of your 'near antique plane.'
Oh well, after 3 hours of back and forth hand sanding it on the table saw bed for flatness I am now better exercised, and aware that my little Scheppach sanding station DOES NOT have a flat surface under the belt sander :U
Knowledge and experience do come at a price!
