Which wood should I use?

I'm pretty new to the world of wood and have done a few woodworking projects in the past but had a bit of guidance for those.



I am planning to build an outdoor herb garden but i'm unsure of which wood to use. Would anyone please be able to help me out?



Also, will I need to line the inside of the box with plastic or something similar as i have read this somewhere else?
