I often think that my tools have personalities, some are kind and a pleasure to use while others are down right mongrels! Well I'm not sure what I've just introduced into the group but I might name it "Damian"...
I'll explain!
I am very excited to have just bought a nice Laguna lt 18 3000 series bandsaw and just put it together and done some test cuts with fantastic results. Ive been using a very old Woodfast 14 inch bandsaw for some years, its a bit run down but still cut my pen blankes but the motor had some issues and an update was always on the cards.
I had decided this morning that I would pass on the Woodfast to someone else minus the stand that'll go on the thicknesser and the going rate would be a carton of beer! I wheeled the old girl into the middle of the shed and took a photo for the advertisement then removed the bolts from the stand and went to get a cup of tea.
This is when things got interesting! I'll never truly know what happened but I'm guessing it was something like this
"Mr Laguna was feeling very nervous in his new surroundings and decided he had to make a name for him self like they do in jail and in a crazed fit of rage he lept at mr Woodfast and tackled him to the ground, causing massive injuries to his spine leaving him in a terminal condition"
or
"After Mr Woodfast realised he had been demoted at work and a was being replaced by a new employee 40 years younger and twice his size he decided that he couldn't take it any more, life wasn't worth living and in a thrust of desperation he lept onto the concrete floor head first, he died immediately surrounded by his colleagues"
Or
" The cat jumped on the saw after I removed the bolts from the base, causing it to fall over?"
I guess I'll never know the truth!!!
Anyway, the saw is free for parts. The door is in good condition, the wheels, table and pully seem okay too.
