How to make 'Pedestal' legs

Hi Guys,



Wondering how on earth to make 'Pedestal' legs - guessing that's what they are called.



Any advice on how I would create the ones in the image as an example would be very much appreciated.



Guessing they are made up of a few parts that are joined together?



Could I laminate up a bunch of boards to make the thickness?



Any pitfalls?
