What constitutes a crying shame

An old bowling ally was destroyed and all the hard wood lanes were destroyed along with it! A large 40 lane ally. A friend of mine told the buyer he would have purchased each individual lane for $16,000 each if he had only placed the pending destruction in the local news paper! Antiquated hard maple, cherry, ash and some large amounts of oak! All old growth! He then discovered that the entire walking floors were all, Old growth!! He told me that there is no jail time or fines for being stupid! He said there should be. That was 35 years ago!
