Some time back I made a "book" box. It was split in half and hinged to open like a traditional small box. I was never happy with this format and wanted the "lid" to open like a book cover. Took a while to work out but it looks ok. Made a few "design changes" along the way but have learned from that and now in the process of making another box, but this time ouy of some old red cedar.
This box was made from black bean with some unknown burl veneer inlays. The banding was the last of a batch of banding I made a while back. The writing was done by a local sign writer. I have lacquered over it to make sure it doesn't come off.
