150mm OD HDPE needed

dimanche 15 février 2015

Yeah I know it isn't metal but it's for a metal boat.

I'm making up my bow rollers for anchor handling. I foolishly assumed that 150mm OD HDPE or UHMWPE would be a standard item at a big plastics shop in Hobart. Hah.

Anyway I need 2 pieces of 100mm each or longer. Happy to buy it if someone has a source or some offcuts in their 'might be useful some day' collection. I've emailed E-Plas in Melbourne so I know about them - haven't got a response yet though. Nor have I from the local people, much to my amazement....

Not desperately urgent as in, I don't need it tomorrow. Just I'm about to weld up all the stainless pins, brackets etc etc and after that I'd like to paint everything that needs painting (including the stainless because it's easier than passivating & polishing it) and break down the scaffolding. So it'd be nice to slip in the rollers and call it done.

I've already thought of making them up from laminations of say 25mm thick flat pieces. I don't want to do that. PITA.

So...... ?
