I'm interested in your opinions.
I've posted previously about my concerns with a new Laguna LT18-3000 that I bought through Gregory Machinery and which they graciously replaced for me (posted here: http://ift.tt/1iEBbWV )
I work in WA and although the replacement saw was delivered by GregMach a few weeks ago, I've only just returned home last night and had my first chance to have a look at and play with the new saw today.
However what I have found today is that the replacement saw, which was actually one that they had set up for a demo' saw at the Brisbane woodworking show, displays exactly the same faults (or what I believe to be faults) as the original one.
The resaw height capacity is advertised as 388mm and to reach that height the blade guide post (or whatever it is called) needs to pass through a hole provided in the top of the casing for that purpose. In the case of both my original and this saw, the post hits the side of the hole and will not pass through so can not reach its full height.
To be fair, it does reach roughly 370mm, so is only about 20mm shy of what it should reach, but does that make it satisfactory?
Additionally, looking across both saws, the frames seem to be out of square, as can be seen in the photos below and in those on my earlier thread.
For the money that I have spent on this saw is this really acceptable? Is near enough really good enough?
Talking to Gregory Machinery today they advise that no-one else has complained of or mentioned this issue so I'm wondering how on earth I could manage to snag two in succession if it is not a more widespread problem. But they are certainly going to look into it and get back to me. I've found Gregory Machinery responsiveness and support to be very good so I don't have any doubts that they will indeed follow up.
Likewise, Laguna in the US were very responsive when I raised the concern previously and were following up with the manufacturer, however I've not heard back in that regard but I have forwarded these pics to them again as I have no doubt they would be concerned if there really is an issue here.
Meanwhile, I'm wondering does anyone else have this model saw and does it show these same characteristics?
Alternatively, if you have one that does not show the same issues could you post a couple of pics of how it should look?
